About Philter One

What is Philter One?

Philter One is a small computer for your office that comes set up to find and redact personal information in your documents. A person reviews and approves every redaction, and it runs on your own network, so your documents stay with you.

Who is it for?

Small offices that handle personal information in their documents, such as medical and dental practices, law firms, accounting and tax practices, and insurance agencies.

How does it work?

1. Plug it in. Connect Philter One to your office network. It comes set up, with nothing to install.
2. Add your documents. Upload PDF and Word files from any computer in the office, in a web browser.
3. Review the redactions. Check each proposed redaction, change it or add any that were missed, and approve the document.
4. Download the redacted copy. Save a redacted PDF to share. The original stays on the box.

What does it find?

Personal information such as Social Security numbers, account numbers, birth dates, and names. It proposes redactions, and a person decides what is removed.

What do I need to use it?

Your office network and a web browser on the computers that will use it. There is no software to install on those computers.

Will my documents leave my office?

Philter One is designed to run entirely on your own network, without sending documents to an outside service.

Will it catch everything?

No redaction tool can promise that. Detection is probabilistic, which is why every document goes through a person's review before it is finalized. You remain responsible for checking the results on your own documents.

Buying Philter One

When will Philter One be available?

We are targeting the first half of 2027. It is in development. To hear when it is available, join the list on the Philter One page.

How much will it cost?

Final pricing has not been determined yet. The Philter One device will be a one-time purchase, with optional annual updates available for an additional fee.

Is there a free trial?

There is no free trial, but you can return your Philter One within 30 days for a full refund.

Is there a hardware warranty?

Yes, the Philter One device hardware has a warranty. The warranty covers the hardware only. It does not cover how accurately Philter One finds or redacts personal information: detection is probabilistic, and you remain responsible for reviewing documents before you share them.

You will need one to purchase and manage Philter One devices. You can create an account now. We send a link to confirm your email address before you can sign in.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

Use Forgot your password? on the sign-in page. We'll email you a link to choose a new one. The link works once and expires after an hour.
